Stichting Mission Lanka & Truth Media International Conduct One-Day Media Workshop for 75 Students in Kahengama-Ratnapura-Sri Lanka.

KAHENGAMA, Sri Lanka – 27 September 2026 — Stichting Mission Lanka, together with Truth Media International, successfully conducted a One-Day Media and Human Rights Workshop for 75 students of Sri Bodhi Dahampasala, Kahengama, on 27 September 2026.

The programme formed part of the organisations’ continuing efforts to provide young people with practical knowledge and skills that can support their education, personal development and responsible engagement with media and society.

The programme was organised to strengthen young participants’ knowledge and practical skills in media, communication, public speaking and human rights awareness, while encouraging confidence, leadership and responsible engagement with society.

Developing Media and Communication Skills

The workshop sessions were conducted by Mr. Greshan Navindra, who provided the students with practical guidance and knowledge related to media and communication.

Throughout the one-day programme, students were introduced to areas including communication skills, voice training, public speaking, news presenting, event management and basic media practices.

Interactive learning activities gave participants an opportunity to develop their confidence, presentation abilities and communication skills in a supportive educational environment.

Promoting Human Rights Awareness Among Young People

Alongside media and communication education, the programme also placed importance on increasing human rights awareness among children and young people.

As part of this educational initiative, Human Rights educational booklets were distributed to the participating students, providing them with additional learning material to improve their understanding of fundamental human rights, responsibilities and respect for the rights of others.

The distribution of these educational resources complemented the workshop’s broader objective of helping young people become informed, responsible and socially conscious members of society.

Certificates Presented to Participants

At the conclusion of the programme, Certificates of Participation were presented to the students in recognition of their participation and commitment throughout the workshop.

The certificates recognised the students’ involvement in the one-day programme and their participation in the media and communication learning activities.

Together with the Human Rights educational materials, the certificates provided both recognition and continued educational value beyond the workshop itself.

The initiative reflects the continuing collaborative efforts of Stichting Mission Lanka and Truth Media International to create meaningful educational opportunities for children and young people in Sri Lanka, particularly in the areas of media literacy, communication, leadership and human rights education.

The organisations also extend their appreciation to Sri Bodhi Dahampasala, Kahengama, its teachers and all those who contributed to the successful completion of the programme.

Supporting Quality Education and Responsible Future Leaders

The programme contributes to the broader objectives of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) – Quality Education, by providing young people with opportunities to develop practical knowledge, communication abilities and greater awareness of their rights and responsibilities.

By combining media education with human rights awareness, Stichting Mission Lanka and Truth Media International continue to encourage young people to become confident communicators and responsible, informed and socially aware future citizens.

Together, we continue to empower young minds through education, communication and human rights awareness.
